Embedded digital data processing for diode laser spectroscopy

For our compact and lightweight laser spectrometers we have developed in collaboration with the KIT Institute for Data Processing and Electronics (IPE) a dedicated all-digital data acquisition and handling system that combines all requirements we have for autonomous spectrometer deployment aboard passenger and research aircraft:

1. Low Noise
  • Entire system optimized for low noise operation
  • Near shot noise limited measurements (demonstrated with near-infrared DFB laser at 1.39 microns)

2. All-digital data processing

  • Direct absorption spectroscopy
  • Wavelength modulation spectroscopy with software lock-in amplifiers
  • Cavity enhanced absorption spectroscopy
  • Photoacoustic spectroscopy

3. Compact

  • Four Euro-card sized electronics boards
  • Embedded PC
  • Laser driver included

The system is presently deployed in the latest generation of the ISOWAT H2O isotope-ratio laser spectrometer.
