Our group „Interactions in the Atmospheric System“ (IAS) focuses on atmospheric process studies to advance the understanding of composition-climate interactions. Using models and observations, we investigate how composition change (and in particular ozone change) affects climate and how, in turn, climate change affects composition. Processes, or systems, we study include:
Indian summer monsoon anticyclone.
Asian winter monsoon cold surges.
Fast changes in stratospheric dynamics and ozone.
How well can we capture them in models?
What is the impact of model resolution?
Can we predict such events and how do they impact the troposphere?
Validation of ozone calculated with chemistry-climate models.
Participation in the Ozone CCI project.
Climatic impacts of the ozone hole.
