Microwave spectrometer measurements over Bern indicate ozone recovery

Ozone mixing ratios over Bern measured with the GROMOS microwave spectrometer indicate a slight ozone recovery at 10 hPa over the last 20 years (top panel; blue: measurements; red: parametric modell; black: linear trend). The second panel shows the residuals. Panels 3 to 5 show contributions by the QBO, the solar cycle and the ENSO.

Trend analysis was performed with an algorithm developed at IMK which supports the full covariance matrix of the measured data. With this, autocorrelations in the residual spectra can be considered.
