The Encyclopedia of Geosciences

These ClONO2 distributions appear in a review article which has been written for the Encyclopedia of Geosciences. The Encyclopedia of Geosciences is a collection of peer-reviewed scientific review articles on topics relevant to the geosciences, published in the open-access journals of the European Geosciences Union (EGU), written by the experts of the field. It shall fill the gap between traditional review articles on the one hand and online encyclopediae on the other. The subject area of the Encyclopedia of Geosciences is the entire field of geosciences including research on the atmosphere, hydrosphere, cryosphere, solid earth, and biosphere. The articles shall address readers with academic but not necessarily specialist background in science.

Currently the Encyclopedia of Geosciences uses existing review articles published in the EGU journals.

It is planned, however, to replace or complement them with articles tailored to the needs of the Encyclopedia of Geosciences. In order to guarantee high scientific quality, the articles of the Encyclopedia of Geosciences undergo the full reviewing process in their partner journals, and, depending on the journal, are subject of a public discussion phase. Usually, articles are solicited, but the Encyclopedia of Geosciences is also open for contributed review articles. Before preparing and submitting a review article, authors should follow the guidelines for review articles of the corresponding topical partner journal. In addition, an editor of the Encyclopedia of Geosciences should be contacted, who will discuss with the executive editor of the partner journal if submission of this article can be encouraged.
