Welcome to the SPARC WAVAS II Workshop on Satellite Data Quality Assessment

Water vapor is the most potent greenhouse gas; its evolution in the stratosphere, however, is still not well understood. Numerous satellite data records are available to date; however, there seems to be a wide spread among the data records regarding the absolute numbers of water vapor mixing ratios and their temporal and spatial variation.

The "Satellite Data Quality Assessment" activity within WAVAS II has the goal to provide a review on the available water vapor data records and an inter-comparison among the more recent measurements and reprocessed improved data records from previous instruments.

The December 2014 workshop is the second meeting after the workshop at JPL, Pasadena, in December 2013.

This time, we will focus on the final assessment of the satellite data intercomparisons, and work towards the review paper to be written.

The workshop will be held on December 3-5 (Wednesday to Friday) at KIT, Campus North, Karlsruhe, Germany. Directions how to travel to Karlsruhe and KIT-Campus North can be found under the link "Travel" above. "Accommodations" gives you some hotel addresses and related links. Please book your accomodation yourself.

Please register online for the workshop (click "Register" above, deadline is 24 October 2014). There will be no registration fee. There is no security clearance procedure, however, the entrance procedure could be accelerated by providing some personal details in advance (only if you wish so). At the "Registration" site you can also provide the title of your contribution.
